A primary goal of a safety program regarding arc flash hazards is to establish shock and flash protection boundaries. This is essential because arc flash can release a significant amount of energy that can cause serious injuries or even fatalities. Establishing these boundaries ensures that workers understand the limits within which they must operate to minimize their exposure to these electrical hazards.

By clearly defining these boundaries, organizations can implement effective safety protocols and measures that protect employees from the risks associated with arc flashes. It also fosters a culture of safety within the workplace, where employees are made aware of potential dangers and are trained on how to work safely around electrical equipment.

While factors like production speed, training sessions, and equipment costs are important in an operational perspective, they are not the primary focus of a safety program specifically aimed at mitigating the risks associated with arc flash hazards. The core emphasis remains on safeguarding human life and establishing practices that contribute to a safer working environment.
